A poll conducted in October by The Associated Press and Petside.com, an Internet pet store and veterinary Web site, found that even though 93 percent of Americans said they would spend less than last year on holiday gifts, or about the same as a year ago, 52 percent of pet owners planned to buy their animals a holiday gift — up from 43 percent last year.
